OTC-X Coach
The OTC market includes all limited liability companies that are not quoted on the stock exchange and whose shares are traded outside the stock exchange through a bank or another financial services provider. OTC stands for over-the-counter and is used for markets that are not subject to any specific stock exchange legislation. In Switzerland there are some 175,000 limited liability companies, of which around 350 are quoted on the Swiss stock exchange and the Bern stock exchange. Some further 500 companies are not quoted on the stock exchange but their shares are traded over the counter (OTC).
With 320 listed companies, the Bern Cantonal Bank's OTC-X platform is Switzerland's leading electronic trading platform for over the counter traded shares. This platform increases liquidity in the OTC market and allows for more transparency in trading. OTC-X offers small and medium-sized companies an opportunity to reach a broader public at a lower cost and with less organization. Thanks to the increased transparency and liquidity of the various securities traded, unknown companies can become an interesting option for investors.
In September 2008 OLZ was appointed the first OTC-X coach by the Bern Cantonal Bank. An OTC-X coach assists companies to start trading on the OTC-X (FIT) and advises them throughout the duration of the launch process (listing, GO). Moreover, we can take on the role of a sparring partner during the listing phase (PERFORM) and advise them within the OTC-X network if they later want to transfer to one of the two Swiss stock exchanges (MOVE).
